GUIDELINES
IMPORTANT
WWOOFers
• I want to broaden my knowledge on organic agriculture.
• I am willing to learn practically by helping with tasks that can be demanding and strenuous, I am willing to be outside in any weather and to get dirty. I am also willing to adopt a different daily rhythm.
• I present a valid membership proof already with the first contact email (number of membership suffices)
• My membership is not transferable and I won’t pass on log in data or farm data to anyone.
• I am aware that my host takes me into his home as a guest and accordingly I will behave politely and considerately.
• I am aware that my host will not always have time to attend to tasks with me or to answer to my questions immediately.
• I won’t leave the farm without telling my host.
• I will tell my host in time, should I not be able to come for my stay on the farm.
• I know that both I and the host can terminate a WWOOF stay at any time.
• I have a valid WWOOF membership and a health and accident insurance (www.oveuropa.com offers different insurance schemes for WWOOFers). Should I need a visa for Austria I will take care of it myself.
• I am responsible for my own safety and health during my stay on the farm. I know, that I am not allowed to do any industrial tasks (room service, sales staff, waitressing). I will only drive a tractor when I have a license for it and have the confidence to be able to do it in this terrain.
• I am responsible for my travel costs to and from the farm and have enough financial means for that.
• I discuss problems with my host as soon as they arise and am aware that misunderstandings happen and can mostly be solved by a tranquil conversation.
• I contact the WWOOF office if greater problems arise.
• As the WWOOF organization is not able to visit their farms regularly, I help them by sending a short not to office@wwoof.at after my stay, telling them how WWOOFing on this farm was (this information is only used internally and confidental).
Farms:
• I follow the principles of organic agriculture (certified or not)
• As a WWOOF farm my farm becomes a place of exchange for knowledge and experiences in sustainable agriculture between members of the association. According to that I take pleasure in sharing the principles of organic agriculture/ animal appropriate husbandry/self sufficiency and my practical expreiences with it.
• I am willing to take WWOOFers into my home and to care for them, spare time for their questions and conversations.
• I offer a dry, clean and (in winter) warm accommodation.
• I offer meals or food and cooking facilities.
• I make sure that WWOOFers are active members of the association by checking their membership number on the website.
• I make sure WWOOFers get sufficient instructions to fulfill tasks and I won’t allow them to use dangerous tools. I only let them drive a tractor if they have a license for it.
• I offer a variety of tasks, according to their skills and interests.
• I don’t use WWOOFers to replace any trade workers.
• I am patient and open minded to other attitudes. I don’t demand too much of WWOOFers and give them enough spare time and also do something with them sometimes (trips, sightseeing...) or at least give them the opportunity to do it (take them to the bus stop...)
• I know that both WWOOFers and I can terminate a WWOOF stay at any time.
• I discuss problems with them as soon as they arise and am aware that misunderstandings happen and can mostly be solved by a tranquil conversation.
• I answer to inquiries (email) from WWOOFers even when I have to decline.
• I contact the WWOOF office if greater problems arise.

These goals are achieved in particular by:
* providing farm addresses to members. * Education about the basics and practical application of environmentally friendly organic farming and environmental protection in this field through training events, meetings and exchange of experiences.
* Fostering cooperation with environmental, consumer and agricultural associations, etc., as far as they pursue the same or similar organically oriented goals.
